In Week 2 of AAF action, we saw some more well-rounded play and plenty of excitement. Here at BIGPLAY, we decided to corral all the big moments from this past weekend into a top 10 list.

10. Malachi Jones hauls in 1st TD of the season for Atlanta

Atlanta Legends wide receiver Malachi Jones hauls in the contested touchdown catch in between two defenders, taking a big hit from the safety in the process. The touchdown was the first of the season for Atlanta, which came in the first quarter against the Fleet on Sunday.

9. San Diego QB Philip Nelson completes the craziest pass you’ll ever see

Late in the third quarter, Fleet quarterback Philip Nelson throws an over-the-head backward pass as he is getting wrapped up by a defender, and somehow completes the throw to tight end, Gavin Escobar. The play had no real significance towards the ending score, but it was too insane to not put on this list.

8. Commanders’ Kenneth Farrow performs acrobatic TD

Early in Sunday’s game between the Commanders and the Apollos, running back Kenneth Farrow barrels down the middle of the field, jumps before he reaches the endzone and ends up getting spun in the air before landing awkwardly in the endzone for the first touchdown of the day for San Antonio.

7. WR Jalin Marshall gashes defense on a 57-yard catch-and-run

On a day when Orlando gashed San Antonio through the air, wide receiver Jalin Marshall took a deep post route 57 yards after breaking a tackle and rumbling down the field. The catch was the longest one on the day for the Apollos, despite fellow wideout Charles Johnson catching seven balls for 192 yards and a touchdown.

6. WR De’Marcus Ayers makes a sensational one-handed grab

Just two minutes after Farrow jumped his way into the endzone, Commanders wideout De’Marcus Ayers reeled in an incredible one-handed catch with a defender right on his hip. Ayers finished the day with eight catches for 80 yards.

5. Stockton gives Hotshots the lead in the 4th quarter with a 45-yard score

Very late in a closely contested game between Arizona and Memphis, running back Justin Stockton breaks two tackles to score from 45 yards out, which after the two-point attempt but the Hotshots within four points of the Express early in the fourth quarter.

4. Zac Stacy becomes first ever AAF RB to eclipse 100 yards

Following a 50-yard rush at the end of the third quarter, Express running back Zac Stacy becomes the first ever AAF RB to eclipse 100 yards in a single game. Stacy finished the day with 19 rushes for 101 yards and one touchdown.

3. Special teams TD helps Iron get the victory against Salt Lake

On a day where Birmingham struggle to put up points offensively, it was the special teams that came through with a touchdown. A forced fumble that was recovered in the endzone by the Iron gave them six of the twelve points they scored during their second win of the season on Saturday against the Stallions.

2. Joey Mbu scoops-and-scores following strip sack

San Antonio defensive tackle Joey Mbu scooped up a strip sack fumble and brought it in the endzone for the touchdown. It was a huge play at that point in time for the Commanders, though they ended up losing the game anyway.

1. Game-winning pick-six by CB Keith Reaser seals the victory for Orlando

During a tie game in the 4th quarter on Sunday, San Antonio QB Logan Woodside threw a pass to the left that was jumped by Apollos cornerback Keith Reaser, who took the interception to the house and notched the game-winning score for Orlando. Reaser’s turnover was a huge reason why Orlando won its second game of the season.
