20 Million Dollars Before Zion Williamson Hits the NBA Hardwood?

Did someone say sneaker deal?

Zion Williamson, Master P and Romeo Miller

Last Monday, TMZ Sports posted a video on YouTube of Master P and Romeo Miller offering expected first-overall selection Zion Williamson a 20 million dollar shoe deal and a guaranteed role in their upcoming film.

Master P and his son Romeo Miller are New Orleans based rappers who have a great influence in the city. The shoe deal referred to in the video is a part of Master P’s new shoe line called MoneYatti. The shoe is not the usual basketball shoe, but instead a luxury shoe that is worn off the court.

Master P also has a new movie coming out called “I Got the Hook-Up 2”, the sequel to his 1998 movie “I Got the Hook-Up”. In the video, Williamson is also offered a role in the series’ third installment, “I Got the Hook-Up 3”, once production begins.

In this year’s NBA Draft Lottery, the New Orleans Pelicans received the first overall pick. Williamson is the biggest name in the draft this year, so it’s expected that he will go number one to Pelicans. The four other teams in the top five are the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. After the NBA Draft Lottery was over, rumors and articles started going around about Williamson pulling out of the draft because the Knicks didn’t get the first pick.

The offer from Master P could be beneficial for Williamson, for two reasons.  One reason is Michael Thomas, wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints. In the past, Thomas was seen showing off a No Limit jewelry piece, along with other items representing Master P’s record label. According to Nick Underhill of The Advocate, Thomas and Master P have developed a relationship with each other. This shows that Master P has no problem letting a young black male know they have someone in their corner.

Another reason is the business opportunity for both Zion and Master P. Master P had played in the NBA before with the Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Hornets, so he has experience within professional basketball. If Williamson does not pull out of the draft and expresses that coming to
New Orleans was in some way influenced by the NOLA-based rapper, this could possibly open the door for Master P to get into the Pelicans organization one day.
